Computer Vitae

  • approx. 1984: Commodore 64, floppy-disk drive
  • when it came out: Commodore Amiga 500, first contact with Free Software (which was back then called “Public Domain”). Collected many FredFish disks. My first harddrive was an external 52MB.
  • 1991/1992: Intel 486/33, black-case, 170MB harddrive. Windows 3.1, first try at Linux 0.99pl27 (DLD → Deutsche Linux Distribution, IIRC Slack-based, the guy who did it now works for RH).
  • approx. 1996: First steps in the internet.
  • since S.u.S.E. 5.2 (Linux 2.0): Regular use of Linux
  • 2001: Bought my first PC without an OS.
